PANPACIFIC NURSING STUDENTS EXPLORE MICROBIOLOGY WITH FERMENTATION FOOD FAIR

The Panpacific Nursing students were participated in the Microbiology Culminating Activity:Exploring the role of microbes with a theme “The Culture and Art of Fermentation through the Eyes of Gen Z students: A Gastronomic Experience, held at the Panpacific Events Center, Urdaneta Campus.

According to Ms. Marjorie Delos Santos, the professor of nursing for microbiology class,microbes are an integral part in the study of microbiology. Microbes can produce probiotics, which are beneficial for health and can also be used in medicines. Through this kind of class activity, students will be able to appreciate the role and benefits of microbes to humans.



Some of the mouth-watering foods presented by each group in their class included: kani rolls made up with freshly cut cucumber, carrots, mango, and crab sticks wrapped in a rice paper wrapper, with peanut sauce; pickled bamboo shoots, papaya, onion , mango, and radish, cucumber sushi rolls, kimchi, burong hipon, burong isda, red buro, etag carbonara. They also served puto with ube cheese, puto with salted egg, classic puto with cheese. For the drinks they have mango sangria, soya milkshake, rice wine and cassava tapa.


The Academics Office, headed by Dr. Virgo C. Lopez, commended the activity as an example of innovative teaching that can be appreciated by the learners. This event demonstrates that  nursing students are not only focused on memorizing medical terms but can also cook and prepare nutritious food to serve their patients.


Meanwhile, Dr. Lopez encourages all teaching staff to develop similar innovative activities to foster learning.
