Panpacific University Celebrates United Nations 2024

Panpacific University celebrated the United Nations Month 2024 with the theme "UnityFest: Cultivating a Culture of Peace." This year’s event was filled with engaging activities that emphasized the rich diversity of cultures represented by PU’s international students. Held over two days on October 22 and 28, 2024 at the SDG and IZN Corner, the hybrid event welcomed students from both the Urdaneta and Tayug campuses.

The first day began with an intercultural prayer ceremony led by Chinese, Nigerian, Spanish, Korean, Indian, and Filipino students of PU. Each student led a prayer in their native language, highlighting the event's commitment to cultural inclusion. The international students also set up booths representing their countries, where they showcased traditional foods, iconic tourist attractions, and traditional attire. A highlight of the day was their demonstration of cooking skills, as they prepared their traditional dishes while in Tayug Campus were classroom-based activities such as coloring of flags for lower school students, Poster slogans for Junior High School, Digital Poster Slogans for Upper School and College students, Flag quiz for both lower and Junior School students, and a Quiz All over the World for all levels in School of Basic Education (SBE).

On the second day, October 28, a cultural parade was conducted showcasing the cultural attires worn by the students from the SBE  from both campuses. After that is an intercultural talk focused on themes of cultural self-awareness, deep cultural understanding, and the promotion of cultural democracy and linguistic justice. The talk was delivered by Dr. Danilo Alterado, Dean of the Panpacific Graduate School. The event concluded with traditional Filipino games that fostered teamwork and unity among participants for the Urdaneta Campus while in the Tayug campus was the awarding ceremony for the winners in their activities.

This annual celebration at Panpacific University underscores the institution's commitment to honoring and recognizing the diverse cultures of its international student body.
